Honeybee

About us

Welcome to the exciting world of bees at the Laboratory of Apidology! Our research dives into the incredible lives of honey bees and wild bees, exploring their bionomy, ecology, and social behaviors. We're tackling beekeeping challenges head-on, focusing on controlled reproduction and harnessing the power of wild bees for farming, especially in providing essential pollination services for orchards and diverse crops.

We're also passionate about biodiversity and conservation, studying the vibrant diversity and abundance of bees in various environments, including urban areas. With a rich history in bee nutrition and breeding, we've patented innovative feed production technology and developed methods to reintroduce endangered species like Anthophora plagiata and breed Osmia rufa.

Don't miss our unique apiinhalatory, a wooden haven where you can experience the refreshing beehive air, located in the beautiful Dendrological Garden of the University. For access, reach out to Dr. hab. Monika Fliszkiewicz (+48 61 848 7633) or Dr. inż. Ewa Jerzak (+48 61 846 6240)—entrance is absolutely free!

Join us for our beginner beekeeping courses and let's explore the fascinating world of bees together!
